The Magician's Elephant By: Kate DiCamillo This book is about a boy named Peter Agustus. Peter is trying to find his sister, they were seperated when Adele (Peters sister) was a baby. Although it seemed impossible the impossible came true. Vilna, Peters guardian had told him that his sister had died with his parents but Peter had never belived him. His guardian gave him some money to get food but instead he spent the money on a fortune teller. She told him that he must follow the elephant and he will find his sister. Peter though it was impossible because elephants do not live in Baltese. However a magician was doing a performance and an elephant fell through the ceiling into a lady's lap during an act. Once Peter had heard about the elephant he had relized that the impossible came true, he then belived that his sister was still alive. Peter and his sister both had dreams about the elephant. Peter goes to see the elephant and when he looked in her eyes she is very sad and she just wants to go home. He desides that it is more important to take the elephant to the magician so the elephant can be sent home. It all works out because as Peter is taking the elephant to the magician Adele sees the elephant she runs out to the elephant. Sister Marie calls out to Adele: "Come back in Adele!" Peter then relizes that he had found his sister Adele.
