4/2/11Roscoe Riley Rules By: Katherine Applegate Everyone had an award but Roscoe! Some people were having a dog contest at a park for the best the Best Dog Tricks. Roscoe really wanted to win the award but he didn't think his dog Goofy was good enough to win an award, but he learned that you should like what you have NOT what someone else has. Roscoe's friend Marin had a really smart dog named Edward. Edward could do all kinds of tricks, he could bark as many times that the words said. Roscoe really wished that he had a dog as good at tricks as Edward. Martin really wished he had the sweater Roscoe's grandma had knited for him. So they made a trade. Roscoe borrowed Martin's dog and gave Martin the sweater to wear. Roscoe told his parents a little fib that Martin had to go to tuba practice (that part was true) and that he was doing Martin a favor because he wanted to have Edward in the Best Dog Tricks contest, (That part was not so true.) Edward won the contest which should have made Roscoe happy, but instead he saw his dog Goofy. He relized how much Goofy loved him and he then loved Goofy back, he then told everyone the truth about what happened. Roscoe called over Goofy, Goofy came sprinting over and he ran to Goofy so fast that they did three back summersalts. They gave the award to someone else but they at least got a ribbon that said: "Best Backward Sumersalt Team". Roscoe then relized that any dog can be great, but know-matter what you should allways love your own dog the most.
