I have been reading a book called White Fang by Jack London. White fang is also the main character in the book. White Fang is a wolf. This book is exciting and entertaining and I don’t want to stop reading it. I like it because. White Fang does a lot of crazy things.
White Fang does dangerous things even when he is a baby. When he was little he fell in a stream. He put two feet in water and then the other two feet and then he was floating down the stream. When he got out of the stream animals attacked him. His mom saved him.
He was born in the wild but after his dad died his mom brought him back to the Indian camp were she was born. One winter when food was scarce White Fang ran away. He ran into the woods. He got scared and didn’t like it so he came back to the village. Gray Beaver, his owner gave him a piece of meat because he was glad to see White Fang.
After White Fang came back Gray Beaver thought he might like to be a guard dog. Grey Beaver had White Fang guard his tent. One day Gray Beaver sent someone to his tent that White Fang did not know. White Fang protected the tent and attacked the person. Gray Beaver was not mad at White Fang because he was just doing his job.
I like White Fang because I like reading about all his exciting adventures. I don’t want to put it down. It’s my favorite book to read next to Harry Potter. I wish it would never end!!!
The book I have been reading is called, The Time Machine, by H. G. Wells. It’s about a person who builds a time machine and travels into the future. It’s nothing like I ever thought it would be.
This guy everybody calls the time traveler has a few friends over for dinner and then starts to tell them about when he time traveled. He got in his time traveling machine and turned it on. He looked at the clock. When he started it he felt very dizzy so he stopped it. It was about 10 minutes later than when he started it.
The second time he used the machine he let it run for a long time. He pulled the lever really hard to stop the machine and went flying. He crashed. He began to panic because he was so far from home. He was a far distance and a short distance from home at the same time. He was standing at the place where his house was torn down but he was a long time away from it. The year was 80,271.
When he looks around he is really surprised. He didn’t know where everyone was. The plants are different. The animals are different. The buildings are different. When he finally found creatures he tried to talk to them but they spoke a different language. He tried to get them to teach him their language. He learned the names of a few fruits but that was it. They got bored and went away. He was ready to leave but his time machine was missing. He saw that it was dragged away into the bottom of a big sculpture. Eventually he found the time machine but also found another species of creatures that live under ground and are very mean. They attacked him but he got to his time machine and went home.
There were lots of other things that were different and it made the book really interesting. I really like it and I really want to read the original. I wonder what its like backwards in time.
I have been reading another HG Wells book, War of the Worlds. It’s as awesome as The Time Machine. The main idea is that aliens invade Earth.
It starts out when an astronomer is looking at Mars. Then he sees a different color puff of smoke each day. A few days later a cylinder comes crashing down to Earth. In the next day, people were watching the cylinders then small slimy octopuses crawled out and everyone was scared. The astronomer thinks they are attacking us because Mars is a dying planet.
The aliens built huge fighting machines and the army came to destroy them. The aliens shot heat rays at the army. Every one starts running away.
I like the thought of aliens invading our planet. It would be scary and exciting. I wish I could meet an alien. I think there are aliens that are watching us right now and they are listening to us talk about aliens.
I don’t know how it ends because I am not done with the book. I am only on chapter ten. HG Wells is one of my favorite authors.
I have been reading “King Arthur” by Howard Pyle. This book seemed different the second time I read it. The first time I read it, it seemed to be all about King Arthur. The second time I read it, the first chapter seems to be about King Arthur and the rest was about his Knights. Arthur became King by drawing a sword out of a block of iron. Sir Kay, his older brother, was really angry when Arthur drew the sword because that meant Arthur would be King. Sir Kay really wanted to be King and was jealous of Arthur. I have been jealous of my brothers when they got things I wanted really badly. After Arthur became King he had a round table where all his Knights sat. If I were creating my own round table I would pick strong people willing to fight. I would pick my brothers because Connor likes to fight and Seamus does too. King Arthur picked his Knights very carefully because he didn’t want any of them to betray him. I would pick my brothers because I trust them. There are two major things that Knights do – protect the kingdom and go in search of adventure. Knights may search for other Knights to fight or dragons to battle or people to save. I suppose that the Knights are always in search of adventure. I liked the first part of the book the best because it was mostly about Arthur becoming King. I think there are other stories about King Arthur that I haven’t read – but I want to. I think I could make up stories about King Arthur and his Knights but I would have to memorize their names.
