From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler By: E. L. Konigsburg
Over the weekend I read "From the Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler". The book is about a girl named Claudia who does not like the way she is being treated by her parents so she decides to run away with her brother Jamie. She has decided to run away to the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art.She ends up discovering something not only about a statue in the museum, but also about her self as well.

Claudia decides to run away with her brother on a Wednesday by taking a train into New York City. They pack all their clothes in their instrument cases and make plans before they leave the house. They make their way to the museum and hide in the restrooms, standing on the toilets, till the museum closes. They get out of the stalls when everyone has left and they explore the museum.

Claudia and Jamie hide all their clothes around the museum and then they sleep in a bed that is on display. The next day after they eat breakfast at an automat they decide that they want to learn about something in the museum that they had never known before. In walking around the museum, they see a beautiful statue called "angel".

They decide to try and find out whether or not the statue is by Michaelangelo. They do research at the library and look at other statues in the museum. After not finding out anything, they decide to head home. But on the way home, Claudia decides they should go see the woman who donated the statue to the museum. Claudia is not ready to go home yet. So they stop at the home of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler who donated the statue.

Mrs. Frankweiler hears the children's story and understands that Claudia just wants to feel special before she goes home. So Mrs. Frankweiler lets Claudia and Jamie go thru her files. They discover a sketch signed by Michaelangelo that proves the statue is by this famous artist. Mrs Frankweiler asks them to keep it a secret. Now that Claudia has this secret, she feels special, and is ready to go home.
