Students will take both the 3rd Grade Reading and 3rd Grade Math Achievement Assessments this year.
They will take the Reading Assessment twice, once in the Fall and once in the Spring.

They will take the Mathematics Test once in the Spring.

The first Reading Assessment is considered a practice test to help students get used to standardized tests for the state of Ohio. Students aren't expected to pass this test; if they do pass, they still need to take the test again in the Spring. This Fall test helps identify students who may need extra help passing the test in the Spring.

How to Prepare for the Ohio Achievement Assessments (OAAs):1. The biggest issue is "test stamina"- tests are hours long. Students tend to perform well on the first parts of the test, then "give up" on the second parts of the test.2. Keep up with classroom work and homework. Students are tested on what is being taught in the classroom.3. Practice "proving" what you know in writing and in extended response format4. Review test taking strategies (like using process of elimination, reading questions before the selection, underlining important information, etc.)4. Check out OAA practice tests from the Ohio Department of Education (see below)5. Get plenty of sleep the night before the test and eat a big breakfast the day of the test
