At the beginning of each unit, students get a Math Journal Checklist. On this checklists are pages (usually Math Box pages) that students are allowed to complete independently throughout the unit.
Throughout the unit, usually daily, students are expected to be "through" a certain page on the checklist (both done and checked). This allows students to work at their own pace (some can extend themselves) while also having a minimum threshhold they need to meet.
